  1. Upma

Another delicious item which is made of soaked black gram dal and fenugreek seeds. They are churned and then kept aside for at least 4 hours. Do wash the gram and fenugreek separately and rice separately. Now mix the batter with salt and keep the batter outside the fridge for fermentation at least overnight. Now the next day just pour the batter in the molds of idly and steam it for 10 minutes.

  1. Dosa

You need to soak the urad dal in water for at least 3- 4 hours and then grind it with water to make a thick paste. Once you get it, just keep it aside and grind rice. You now have to mix the two batters and some salt in it and then some water as well. Similar to the idly you need to keep the batter outside overnight for fermentation. The next day just heat the non- stick tava and pour the batter on it and spread it evenly to make thin and crisp dosas. Once you see the edges become crisp just flip it over and keep it there for a few more minutes. If you want to get a better taste just apply a few drops of oil on the sides.

  1. Idiyappam

This is a yummy meal but you need to be very cautious while cooking this one. Take a big bowl and add rice flour with salt. Now pour some warm water in it and knead the flour until it becomes a soft, smooth dough which is non- sticky. On the inner surface of the Idiyappam Maker you have to apply some oil and then fill it with the dough. Now once done, just close the maker tightly. Now after applying oil on the molds of idly plate and squeeze it in the downward direction in a circular motion. For garnishing, you can apply a little bit of coconut mixture with some sugar and steam the idly maker for 15- 20 minutes. Now serve it hot with any curry that you wish to.

  1. GouthambuDosa

This is another type of Dosa which needs a bit of your special attention. First you need to put in all the ingredients and make a proper batter of this dosa. This time you need to keep the consistency of the batter watery. Now once the batter is ready, heat the non- stick pan and then grease it with some vegetable oil so that the batter which is a bit watery does not stick.  Now slightly pour the batter and spread in on the tawa. Make rings out of it and once done just keep in mind that it should be thin. You need to be consistent all over. Once the dosa is crisp from one side just flip it over and when it is cooked from both the sides you can just serve it hot. Just like the plain or masala dosa, you can put some oil on the circumference of the dosa.

For making this delicious and healthy dish you need to wash the dal and rice and then drain all the water. Put the rice in a cooker and add 1 tbsp of ghee. Now add the dal and fry them until you see the coat on the rice and dal mixture. You can add the other ingredients but not the garnish. Now add some water and let it cook properly. Keep stirring it so that the mixture doesn’t burn. Once the rice gets dully meshed you can serve it in a plate and then garnish it with some cashews.

For making this dish you need a large mixing bowl where you will have to add some rice powder, salt, and a little water. Next to this just mix it till you get the powder ready. Now take the pressure cooker and pour some water in it. After this, you will have to steam the water and then add the mixture to it. Now while the water is boiling grate some coconut and add it to the water with rice flour and add all of this in the puttu maker. Now once you have added everything you can now put it on the nozzle and let the mixture get the steam. After 5- 10 minutes just take it out and serve it with chana curry.

This dish is also made out of urad dal and some good garnishing ingredients. Apart from the gram, you need to have 2 green chilies which are finely chopped. 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds, oil, salt, onion, and some more items. The MeduVada is a bit difficult to cook but it is worth it. You would enjoy every bit of it.
